How we met
We met through family. Both of us kinda believed that finding "The One" would be difficult via family, but life had a surprise planned for us.
The first date
After texting for a week, we went for dinner at The Big Chill. Five minutes into the date, she knocked a glass of water onto me while looking at the food menu. Half-wet, I requested to change the table, and we moved to a bigger table while she felt sorry. Within two minutes, I knocked a glass of water this time — an accident again. Luckily, this time the table was big and the water only spilled on the table, but it definitely made both of us somewhat easier, gave us a good laugh, and an easy start.
The proposal
It was Saturday, and I knew today was the day I was going to ask her the big question. By now, both of our parents had met and we kinda got an idea that they were somewhat on board with the idea of us liking each other, but no communication had been made between them as both had the same stance that they would ask the kid and let them know on next steps. I had purchased a ring on Friday from Delhi, and now I needed to finalise the place where I was gonna do it; it could not be a cafe or a resort, it had to be in nature, maybe a garden or a nice park. Saturday morning I went to recce the place and found the perfect location — a beautiful arc made of plants and trees in the middle of a park. The spot was finalised. The plan was that my friends would be hidden behind that arc and the moment we reached there they would start playing the guitar and sing our favourite song, and when she looked around to find who was suddenly singing, I would get down on one knee and ask her; and so it happened. We did reach the spot, but how and from where is another funny story which we reserve for telling in person. I got down on one knee and asked her, "Will you marry me?" and she was looking at me, a big smile, she couldn't control it, she sat down with me and hugged me, and she said yes in my ear. I took her hand to put the ring and she took it away and I was looking at her confused and then she smiled again — you put it on the left hand and not the right!
